This bust of a child appears to be a portrait rather than an idealised image. The shroud suggests a memorial and the hole on the crown of the head could have supported a halo. Heads like these were sometimes placed above doors. Traces of pigment on the surface suggests it may originally have been painted to imitate bronze.
