The expressive and individual style of this unidentified artist marks him as a highly unusual talent. He worked in Assisi and Florence. and was also active as a painter of stained glass. This panel is a fragment of a larger, complex altarpiece whose central panel is today in the Fogg Museum in Harvard (and after which the artist is named). Another fragment from this ensemble is on long-term loan to The Courtauld Gallery.
