Notes
Similar crespine were made in the workshop of Virgiliotto Calamelli. However, this bowl, although lacking a workshop mark, is particularly near to wares made in the workshop of Enea Utili, a Protestant potter from Faenza whose works usually bear his initials. Only a few facts are known about Enea Utili: his activity as a potter is documented from 1542 to 1586, and in 1567 he, together with his son and collaborator Baldassarre, was denounced for Lutheranism.
