Almost a century after Claude’s death, Richard Earlom translated into print the Liber Veritatis, an album of drawings Claude made recording his painted compositions. The prints were published by John Boydell, the leading London publisher of the day. They became widely known, providing a model of the ideal landscape for British artists of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. J.M.W. Turner greatly admired Claude’s work and his own series of prints was influenced by the Liber Veritatis. Claude’s original painting is also part of The Courtauld's collection (P.1978.PG.64).
