Notes

From Engravings from the Works of Sir Joshua Reynolds, Volume I. This engraving reproduces Reynolds's painting Portrait of a man, probably Francis Barber (c. 1770), formerly in the collection of Sir George Beaumont and now in the Menil Collection, Houston (inv. no. 1983-103 DJ). We have chosen to retain the title of Reynolds's painting, in which the sitter is identified, for this print.
