Watermark: upper centre: half of Briquet 2541, scales in circle surmounted by a star - on paper dating 1498, 1504 and 1508 from Italy and Germany - the other half shared by the sheet in the Albertina (see Notes).
Collector's mark: Recto: lower right corner, stamped in gold: unidentifed collector (L.2798).
Inscription: Verso (hidden under mount, visible via transmitted light, see photos): centre, brown ink: “Albert Durer”; lower left edge, brown ink (attempt at imitating Durer’s monogram? Seilern said it 'has been connected in the literature with Antonio Tempesta'): “AT”. Mount (historic), Recto, all graphite, modern hand: lower centre: “Albrecht DÜRER”; lower right: “Dürer”, “S. Beham / T”, “A.E.S. / C.S.”.
