Grant’s bold geometric design for this rug borrows liberally from African textiles, examples of which were sold at the Omega Workshops. In a later lecture by Fry, the rug was shown next to a picture of a Kuba textile from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The design was originally created for the Omega’s Post-Impressionist Room at the Ideal Home Exhibition in 1913. Over time the rectangular shape of the rug has become uneven.
