Label Text

Fry was satisfied with the informal approach of artists painting directly onto ready-made white plates at the Omega Workshops, as shown by his urgent appeal to Grant just prior to its opening in 1913: ‘Please come; china to be painted’. Grant’s playful design of a sailing boat may have been inspired by the themes and colours of artists such as Matisse, Derain and Dufy.
