Fry regarded pottery as ‘essentially a form of sculpture’. This coffee pot is one of the more complex and sculptural forms undertaken by Fry, with its angular handle, rounded spout and inward-curving rim. The slight awkwardness of the result may be attributed equally to Fry’s experimental design ethos and his lack of technical competence in the medium.
