Label Text

From his appointment as a lecturer in 1955 to his tenure as Deputy Director, Professor Michael Kitson spent the greater part of his career at The Courtauld Institute of Art. A distinguished Claude scholar, he was especially fond of this etching. It is one of a group that derives from the Liber Veritatis, a volume of drawings by Claude copied after his own paintings. The print is a fine addition to the Gallery’s collection of works by the artist.
