The middle / occupied by a wide-spreading group of trees; in the foreground, to / the left, is an aged man reclining, holding a large volume. In / chalk, finished with pen, and slightly washed - a clear daylight / effect. On the back of this drawing is a fine sketch of two lofty / trees in chalk. The date of this drawing is probably about 1670. //
