At this period he seems to have given much / time and thought to the task of representing the less frequent emotions / of animals, maybe with the view of perfecting his already marvellous / power of tracing their every attitude. / This picture is well known. It has been exhibited at the British Institution in / 1819, at the Exhibition of the Society of British Artists in 1826, and at the Art / Treasures Exhibition, Manchester, in 1857. The original was in the possession of the / late Sir Philip de M. O. Egerton, Bart., and the engraving dates so far back as 1830. //
