Label: MORPETH CASTLE. / Of this baronial Castle the principal remains are the old Gate-way / Tower, and part of the outward wall which enclosed the area and / interior buildings. It is situated upon a lofty eminence, about a quarter / of a mile south from the town of Morpeth; and seems from the ap- / pearance of its boundary walls, and the vestiges of the out-works, to / have been, when entire, a fortress of a considerable strength... //
