Notes

Plate 2, Vol. I of A Series of Original Portraits and Caricature Etchings by John Kay. A set of 361 plates published in two volumes with an appendix, title pages and index to sitters. Second or later edition. The title ascribed to this caricature by John Kay is: A Triumvirate. The Daft Highland Laird, John Dhu, or Dow, alias Macdonald, and Jamie Duff, an idiot. This title contains potentially offensive language. However, because it is the historical caricature title given by the author, it has been retained here.
