Inscription: Recto: centre & separate sheet, pasted below, printed: Llanberis Lake, North Wales / Is in Caernarvonshire, and remarkable for its romantic grandeur; its mountains / rising from the lake itself, and carrying their lofty tops to the clouds that generally / encircle them. The beautiful transparency of the water is greatly heightened by / the rugged shapes and the awful solemnity of the surrounding amphitheatre; upon the / opposite rock stand the ruins of Dolbadern Castle; the mountain on the left is called / Corna Quint, or the Horns of the Wind. The painter has represented the rising / sun expelling the fog; to which Mr Gilpin has well adapted the figures. The / picture is 5 feet 6 inches wide by 3 feet 8 high, and in the possession of Ambrose / Godfrey, Esq.
