Judas kisses Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane, identifying him to the soldiers who have come to arrest him. In the foreground Peter fights with one of the soldiers. This engraving is copied after Dürer’s woodcut from his Small Passion series. This print can be identified as the third state, as this state is numbered twice with non-corresponding numbers; it is the twelfth in the series, identified on the lower right, but has also the number ‘11’ written in the tablet. Though Raimondi has carefully copied Dürer’s woodcut in this engraving, he has also attempted to refine it with finer hatching, resulting in a greater sense of depth.
