Label Text

Morisot captures a fleeting moment, as her subject looks away, distracted by something beyond the frame. The model, Jeanne Fourmanoir, also sat for Morisot’s friend and fellow Impressionist Auguste Renoir. Here is she relaxed and reflective, leaning casually on an elbow with her long, shining hair loose over her shoulders. The swan’s head ornamentation on the chaise longue identifies the location as Morisot’s sitting room.
