Label Text

The sketchiness of this plate, with changes in the etched lines left visible (for example, in the rope on the pulleys at left), and the distant background to the right only vaguely described, focuses attention on the simple but powerfully massive form of the central tower. This is emphasised by the very low viewpoint, suggesting that the viewer is gazing upward from around the foot of the lowest staircase.
