Watermark: Watermark: circle with a border containing a fleur-de-lis, surmounted by the letter "V" (close but not exact match to Heawood 1591 (Venice 1690) and 1592 (Rome 1739).

Inscription: Recto: within the drawing, above the opening, brown ink, artist's hand: "PRO CHRISTO". Scraps removed from mount, now in file, graphite, Blunt's hand: "cf Romano Carapecchia / (cf Courtauld volume p. 54 //"; "? Near Maddalene / (3 Pinto) //".
