Inscription: Verso (backing sheet): left centre, graphite, circled: "1"; right lower edge, graphite: "12"; lower right, graphite, top few lines erased and now mostly illegible: "Canaletto [...] / [...] 1765 / From the Wellesley Coll. / IMP //"; lower left edge, graphite: "7 No002 [the "2" written over "3"]"; lower right edge, graphite: "X4561 / 4- //".

Collector's mark: Verso (backing sheet): stamped twice in black ink at lower left corner (now mostly obscured by the support): black circle with a negative "M" or "W" - unidentified collector's mark (not in Lugt).
