This elegant design shows a handle for a richly ornamented vessel. The intricate detail suggests that the work would have been executed in metal, probably by a goldsmith. Even in such a functional part of an object, Poccetti has drawn inspiration from classical forms and themes. The tips of the handle form Ionic volutes and the nude torso of the woman blends into the decorative scrolls.
