Support (historic), centre: large crowned shield containing fleur-de-lis above "4" above "L V G" (generally Amsterdam/England 18th century, according to Heawood).

Inscription: Recto: upper centre, brown ink, artist's hand: "Vorro rifar questo per coreggiere i dui nicchioni dove capisano le tre / figure per cio che e troppo gra[n] tratta da sostenere il lacunario / ancor che co[n] grossi ferri e un arco di sopra oculto si potria fare si / come in sa[n] pietro nostro qui di ma[n]tova so[n] fatti gli architravi / sopra le colon[n]e, se ben che a[n]cor che si possi far co[n] larte e provisioni / non lo co[m]porta vitruvio, se no[n] fosse o di metallo o ver ligname / e poi l'occhio vuol la sua parte, ivi e a[n]co da coreggiere no[n] so ch[e] altro"; centre, in faint brown ink, artist’s monogram and symbol, in a heart with a cross above: “PPAM”. Support (historic), Verso: upper centre edge, graphite, underlined: "?Bertano"; centre, graphite: "white"; lower left, graphite, unclear: "15. / u [?]".
