Watermark: Watermark: centre: large circle containing two eagles facing inward, flanking a heart shape? Above them is a large crown (no match in Heawood, Churchill or Piccard; Peter Bower suggested could be Arms of Colbert, 18th century, popular in Auvergne).
Inscription: Recto: a scale in black ink runs along the right edge of the sheet, numbered: "n 2 3 4 5 6 piedi". Verso: lower centre, brown ink: "Brass Reading Desk". Scrap removed from mount, now in file: graphite: Lectern Blunt Coll / 158-2* / ?French / c. 1790-1810 / C69 / £25 P //”. False margin (removed, recorded in file): graphite: “Collection of Lord Farnham”.
