Label Text

This design has been discussed as an early study for the bronze and brass grille of the Cappella del Tesoro in the Cathedral of Naples, executed by the architect and sculptor Cosimo Fanzago between 1625 and 1650. Considerable differences between the drawing and the grille, however, suggest that it was preparatory for another wrought-iron gate, such as the one for the chapel of Monterrey in Salamanca, now lost.
