Inscriptions

Watermark: Watermark: upper centre, but unable to see clearly due to backing sheet. Examined with paper conservator using VSC 8000 but unable to determine if the mark belongs to main sheet or backing sheet, and could not see clearly enough to identify - appears to be quite large and possibly a coat of arms. Photograph in object file.

Collector's mark: Recto: lower right, stamped in black: Eugène Rodrigues (L.897).

Inscription: Verso (backing sheet): lower centre and lower left, several lines in graphite now erased and illegible, can only see that penultimate line begins "Ch[...]"; lower right, graphite, crossed through: "Fragonard" and below that, also graphite: "T.H." [or "J.H."].
