Watermark: Watermark: upper centre, fragment: top half of Van der Ley figure in profile holding banner over its head (no exact match found but see Churchill 193 – 18th c and Heawood 1364 – Amsterdam c. 1769 - and Heawood 1365 – no place or date given). In D.S. MacColl's 'Life, Work, Setting of Philip Wilson Steer', 1945, he writes that Steer had quantities of good old paper from colourmen's stocks and old account books - pp. 115, 117.
