Inscriptions

Watermark: bunch of eight grapes with hooked stem formed of double lines (4.3 x 2.6 cm, 2.1 cm between chain lines; closest in type is Heawood 2312 - dated 1606-07 though stem is not so bulbous and is wider. On Rembrandt WIRE database appears to match Watermark Grapes E.a: https://rembrandtwireproject.github.io/grapes/Ea.html, found on a print at the Rijksmuseum by Rembrandt, dated 1654: https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/search/objects?q=rembrandt+cat+snake&p=1&ps=12&st=Objects&ii=4#/RP-P-1987-173,4. See also Erik Hinterding, Rembrandt as an Etcher, 2006, II, 149).

Inscription: Recto: lower right corner, brown ink, now cut off: “67” [?]. Verso (obscured by backing sheet, visible via transmitted light): upper right edge, red chalk cut off: “[…] / M S 6" [?].

Collector's mark: Recto: lower centre edge, stamped in blue ink: unidentified collector’s mark (L.1708a).
