Label Text

This drawing is one the most detailed and carefully considered of all of Gill’s toy designs. The ballerina is set on a stage, perhaps suggesting that it might be used as part of a toy theatre. On the reverse of the sheet, every piece is outlined and numbered, and an inscription gives instructions on how to assemble these components. Such technical details suggest that it may have been brought to the production stage, although a finished toy of this design has not been traced.
