Label Text

This is an initial design for a rug, which, if successful, would be taken through stages of refinement before being sent to the manufacturer, probably the Royal Wilton Carpet Factory in London. This design was also worked up as a repeat pattern, perhaps for wallpaper, enabling a potential unified scheme for floors and walls. The sheet, which has been torn on all four edges, features a fragment of another rug design. This rug can be identified as the one commissioned in 1914 by the Cadena Café in London.
