This design for a square-shaped rug employs interlocking diamonds and overlapping diagonals inspired by Kuba textiles from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Kuba patterns are known for their surface decoration and complexity of design in which they often interrupt the expected line. Fry saw tribal art as a source of inspiration to rejuvenate contemporary art and design. The Omega Workshops both integrated these patterns into their designs and sold African textiles and pottery directly to the public.
