Inscription: Recto: upper left edge, brown ink, located by the artist: "West Dereham Norfolk". Verso (hidden under backing sheet): whole sheet,brown ink, no longer visible because laid down but describes the castle. Verso (backing sheet): upper centre, graphite: "Dr W Crotch"; centre, graphite: "Norfolk"; lower centre, brown ink, cut off at right edge: "Aug 9. colonnade - Mama [...] / We used to hear the twins say "Ah, [...] / The Grove Aug 10. outside [...]" ; lower edge, brown ink, cut off and illegible.
