Notes
Extensive transfer of graphite on recto from verso of previous page.An inscription on D.1954.AH.2.67 may indicate that this whole section of the sketchbook - consisting of inverted graphite sketches - dates to the 1850s rather than the 1831-33 date range of the accounts earlier in the sketchbook. This suggests that Harding picked up an old administrative account/travel book with blank pages to reuse as a sketchbook later in his career.
Provenance
James Duffield Harding (1798-1863) and A.R. Harding; by descent to A.A.D. Harding; gift of A.A.D. Harding, 1954.
