Watermark: Watermark: centre: a crowned shield (the crown with beads) containing wings, surrounded by sculptural scrolls (could match Heawood 829 - no place or date given, but note that is said to be a Brussels mark).
Inscription: Recto: lower left, grey wash, signed with monogram: "HP.F.". Verso: lower left edge, accompaying Esdaile's collector's mark and written in his hand in brown ink: "122 N129". Mount (removed but hinged onto same mount as drawing), Recto: lower right, graphite: "13"; lower right edge, graphite: "Henry Peacham 1650".
Collector's mark: Recto: lower left corner, and repeated on Verso, lower left edge, written in brown ink: William Esdaile (L.2617). Mount (removed but hinged onto same mount as drawing), Recto: lower left corner, stamped in black: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
