Inscription: Recto: lower right, graphite, signed by the artist, AB in monogram: "Abuck". Backing card, Verso: centre, graphite: "10 . 8"; lower right, graphite, Colnaghi number and price: "A16314 C/BH". Mount (removed, cut down and now in object file): black ink, Oswald Magniac's hand: "Water Colour / drawing / Portrait of / Adam Buck / by himself / (signed) / I bought this / at Christie's / 16. July 1919 O.M.".
