Inscriptions

Watermark: Watermark: n/a.

Inscription: Recto: upper right corner, black chalk, false signature?: "C de VisscherF:". Verso (parchment, showing through losses in backing sheet): upper left corner, graphite: “90”; lower centre, graphite, slightly obscured by backing sheet: “Donor Paten van den Maden / […] vaden […] door C. Visscher”; lower left corner, graphite: “2”. Verso (backing sheet): upper left corner, graphite, Colnaghi number and price: “A 7054 / L/-/-”; lower left corner, brown ink: “13”; lower centre, brown ink, a variation on L.97: “ADonnadieu.”. Apparently the former mount also had inscriptions attesting to its former ownership by Alfred Morrison, but these are now lost and only mentioned in the file.

Collector's mark: Verso (backing sheet): lower left corner, stamped in black ink: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b); lower centre edge, pen and brown ink: Alcide Donnadieu (L.97).
