This is a study for the main figure group in a painting in the Harrach Collection, Vienna. It shows Saint Januarius, the patron saint of Naples, visited in prison by Saints Proculus and Sosius. In the drawing, the fine handling of the black chalk used for the outlines and the shading shows Solimena's mastery of the medium.
