Inscription: Verso (backing sheet): upper centre and again lower right, brown ink: “Anthonis van Dyck”; upper right, graphite, several lines erased and now mostly illegible: “V[…] / […] / 1848-1884 //”; lower left, graphite, faint: “? Verdier”; lower right edge, graphite: “1599 + 1641”.

Stamp: Verso (backing sheet): upper centre, black ink: a circular stamp, enclosed in a hexagon, with writing both inside and around the circle, in Cyrillic? Not in Lugt.

Collector's mark: Verso (backing sheet): lower left corner, stamped in black ink: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
