Collector's mark: Verso: lower left corner, stamped: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).

Inscription: Verso (hidden under backing sheet, visible via transmitted light): upper left, graphite: “22 x 16”. Verso (backing sheet): centre, graphite, scratched out and erased: "1772 120 [?]"; right of centre, graphite, written vertically: "16 x 22"; lower right corner, graphite: "#4". Mount (removed): graphite: "The signature on this drawing / was cut off by the rascal who / ...... framed it - aaw."
