This drawing is a design for an engraving representing Old Testament scenes, published in Nuremberg in a Lutheran Bible in 1686. The decorative architectural framework is used to create spaces for six separate scenes on a single page, each representing a distinct event. These are a collection of six different stories in the Books of Kings and Chronicles, including two accounts of Nebuchadnezzar invading Jerusalem (top centre and top left).

Efim Schapiro, London (1899-1977); given by him to Sir Robert Witt, London (1872-1952), n.d.; Witt Bequest 1952
