Watermark: Watermark: Recto, right centre: a circle topped by a trefoil, containing an angel (measures 53 x 39 cm and 20 cm between chain lines). See Piccard 21414-21420, mostly Italian marks dated 1560-1590, though no exact match.
Collector's mark: Recorded in Museum Plus but no longer visible on the drawing, so perhaps was on a former mount, verso: stamped in black:collector's mark of Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
Inscription: Verso: right centre, brown ink: “Le gambe picolo / e longo e groso tropo“. Backing sheet (removed, in box of mounts in P&D): Recto: centre right, graphite: “25“; lower left, graphite: “VIII“; lower centre, brown ink: “D.P. no. 113“; lower centre right, graphite: "#14"; lower right, graphite: "Jacopo Bassano"
