Inscription: Recto: on banderole in upper centre of drawing, brown ink, title in artist's hand: "MUSICA". Witt mount, Recto: lower right corner, graphite, now erased but still mostly visible, Lady Witt’s hand: “Sir Edward Burne-Jones / 1833-1898 / Musica” and in lower right corner “Burne-Jones”.
Collector's mark: Witt mount, Recto: lower left corner, stamped in black ink: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
