Watermark: Watermarks: Recto, right centre: includes a small fleur-de-lis but otherwise too obscured by the mount to better identify. Mount (historic), Verso: centre, small letters: "JWHATMAN".

Inscription: Recto: upper left edge, brown ink (the last two letters over red chalk), artist's hand, added on a separate strip of paper probably trimmed from top of the sheet: "búÿten Brússel, D,S,". Mount (historic), Recto): lower centre edge, black ink: "BY A. WATERLOO. / 17th Century. //"; lower right corner, graphite: "Waterlo / 12 //". Mount (historic), Verso: centre, graphite: "(No. 10) / Waterlo__ // [sic] ".

Collector's mark: Mount (historic), Recto: lower left corner, stamped in black ink: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
