Inscription: Verso (backing sheet): upper centre, brown ink: "Jodocus Mompert."; lower right, graphite: "1-7/". Support (removed but still mounted with the drawing), Recto: lower centre, graphite: "Josse de Momper / 1564-1634 //"; lower centre, brown chalk: "JOOS, or JODOCUS MOMPART. Born in 1580._ No mention is made of the place of his nativity, nor of the Master by whom / he was instructed. He studied nature and became a considerable painter of landscape. //". Support (removed but still mounted with the drawing), Verso: lower left, graphite, the second line circled: "zwa / za //"; lower left edge, graphite: "15 1/4 x 11".

Collector's mark: Recto: lower right corner, blindstamped: George Clausen (L.539). Verso (backing sheet): lower left edge, stamped in black ink: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
