Mount (historic), Recto: upper centre (hidden under the drawing), graphite, Witt's hand though ends with Heseltine's initials: "in the collection of Earl of Dunmore / sold at Christies March 17. 1894 / lot 62. Andromeda ascribed / to Vandyck life sized figure / with description from Waagen- [?] / The picture appears to be by Lely and / this sketch to be a / study for it / JPH"; lower right, graphite: "Sir Peter Lely / 1618-1680 / Colls Dunsmore [sic] / Heseltine P."; lower right corner, graphite, circled: "30".
