We are grateful to Jørgen Wadum for identifying this scene as a recording of the print by Jan Luyken from 1698, which was published in Gottfried, Johann Ludwig, Historische kronyck; vervattende een (...) beschrijvingh der aldergedenckwaerdigste geschiedenissen des weerelds, van den aenvangh der scheppingh tot (...) , 1576 (2 vols), Leiden, Pieter van der Aa, 1698, vol. I, p. 891. An impression of the print is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, inv. RP-P-1896-A-19368-1397.

Inscription: Verso: lower centre edge, brown ink, second line has been almost completely cut off and only ascenders of a long inscription are still visible: "Anno 1613 / [...] V[..] T[...] Oosten" [? According to notes in the file this is what was read; the year accords with the original print]; right lower edge, graphite: "15"; lower right, graphite, circled, obscured by L.2228b: "D. 1375[...]".
Collector's mark: Verso: lower right corner, stamped in black ink: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
