The Witt Collection contains a significant group of drawings by Stefano, most of which depict genre scenes and groups of soldiers. These two works, with their fine pen lines and careful hatching, are similar in manner to his etchings: the drawing Soldiers playing cards is a study for figures in one of a series of etchings entitled Desseins de quelques conduites de troupes.
