Watermark: Watermark: none in the drawing. Backing sheet (removed, now missing, tracing in the file): crowned shield containing a horn, above a small mound, above text “PIETERDEVRIES / & / COMP //” (no match in Churchill, Heawood or Piccard).

Inscription: Verso: upper left edge, brown ink, signed by the artist?: "vandenbroeck". Scrap of paper removed from backing and now in file, brown ink: "N 99. 55555.".

Collector's mark: Recto: lower right edge, blindstamped: Heinrich Wilhelm Campe (L.1391).
