Inscriptions

Watermark: centre: crowned coat of arms (difficult to see but looks like a variant of Heawood 569 - Augsburg ca. 1730).

Inscription: Verso: lower left corner, graphite, cut off: "[...]M.12.gl"; lower left edge, graphite: "Dietz Sch"; lower right corner, graphite: "no 99". Mount (now missing, recorded in file): “From the Fuseli, Bernard and other collections” [Troutman believed the Becker mark had been wrongly construed here as Bernard’s]; apparently another inscription, not transcribed in the file, also named Fairfax Murray as a former owner.

Collector's mark: Recto: lower left corner, blindstamped: Heinrich Wilhelm Campe (L.1391); lower right corner, stamped in black ink: Johann Gottlob Schumann (L.2344); lower right corner, stamped in black ink: Wilhelm Gottlieb Becker (L.324).
