Watermark: Watermark: centre: crossed L-shaped sticks, like spokes of a wheel, with letters in between: "A", "A" and "B" (not found in Heawood or Churchill. Similar type structure without the letters is Churchill 533 dated 1722).
Inscription: Recto: upper right corner, graphite: “VII – 3”; lower right, within drawing, brown ink unclear, signed with monogram?: “Gvil[?]” [Faithorne did sign his prints "Guil." but unable to find a written version of this for comparison]; lower left, graphite: “71”. Verso: lower right, graphite: “D. Defoe ? / by William Faithorne / the younger”.
Collector's mark: Recto: lower left corner, stamped in black: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
