Inscriptions
Watermark: Watermark: Recto, right centre: coat of arms - an oval surrounded by filigree, containing three circles and a chevron; Countermark: Recto, left centre: banner containing "B?C" (no match found in Heawood or Churchill; the countermark appears with a number of Heawood coat-of-arms such as 673 - Paris c. 1669, 696 - Paris 1687, 708 - Paris 1675 and 717 - Paris 1672, but none that are even close to this shield. A similar shield is seen in Heawood 705 - n.p. or date, but says without chevron is Arms of Counts of Bologne).
Inscription: Recto: lower centre, graphite, erased and mostly illegible: “C[..]au-”. Verso: lower centre, graphite: “10 6”.
Collector's mark: The mount formerly used for this drawing was for some reason removed and then reused for D.1970.XX.1: the stamp of Carl Robert Rudolf (L.2811b) is now on that mount but must have referred to this drawing.
Collector's mark: collector's mark of Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b)
